City residents younger, census shows
"Pittsburgh elderly population is not growing," says our Regional Economist Chris Briem.

"The better way to phrase it is that most everywhere else in the world is getting a lot older a lot faster than we are right now," Briem said.
On the other hand, the city's younger population undeniably has grown. The distinction between permanent residents and college students is not as significant as it seems."
